Taking Action on Your Debt: Start Making More Money
One of the ways of taking action to rid oneself of overwhelming debt is by making more money. Make no mistake about it, making more money requires work. Don’t let those scammers tell you otherwise. And making more money requires creativity which all of us have to one degree or another. But making more money is one of the best solutions to bringing down your debt because it actually puts cold cash against the principle. Here are some ideas to consider for making more money:
Take action on your debt by volunteering for extra hours or shifts at work. This is if you have an hourly job that lets you do it. There was once a person who had a salaried job and it required periodic on-call responsibilities along with extra compensation. This person started advertising to the coworkers that he would pull their on-call for the extra money if they didn’t feel like doing it. The extra compensation was put towards reducing some excess credit card debt.
Take action on your debt by getting a second job. If your primary job is not one that requires a lot of extra hours, you can probably get a second part-time job. Stay away from the work-at-home jobs that require you to pay money to find out more information. Stay away from data entry, envelope stuffing, paid-to-read-email, and other types of jobs that have advertisements that just sound too good to be true. Stay away from jobs that are commission only. Stay away from multi-level marketing “opportunities” that require you to pay hundreds of dollars as an investment (they only get you into more debt). Your second job should be one where you go to work and get paid—simple as that.
Take action on your debt through rummage sales. Look in your garage and you will probably see extra unwanted items that you can sell in your front yard. Some people have even been known to make rummage, garage, and yard sales into a small business. What they do is go to one rummage sale and buy some items at a low price. Then, they bring those same items to their own sale and mark them up a little. The result is a profit.
Take action by converting what you know into making money. Some people give piano or singing lessons. Some are writers and some are language translators. People have been known to offer tutoring services at universities. Is there some special skill you have that you can share with others to make money? Are you handy with the tools and know how fix things? Not only do the “fix-it” skills help save you money and fight against debt but you can turn that into a handy-person service.
Take action by using your creative talents to make more money. Some have gone to classes and learned how to make miniature flowers and sell them to people they know. Some build wooden toys and sell them.
Take action on your debt by providing other services that people need. One good way that many people have made additional income is by posting advertisements at senior centers to clean houses or run errands. Some will advertise their services to do pet sitting while families are out on vacation.
The list can keep going on and on and all that extra income can be applied toward bringing down your debt.
